The RUC® Score

The RUC® Score for medical school is a proprietary measure used to assess a prospective applicant’s competitiveness for receiving an interview invite at their selected program.   Using APE algorithms, an individual’s RUC® Score can be reliably determined.  If an applicant’s RUC® score corresponds to a percent invite probability far below 50%, this ultimately suggests that their qualifications may not be a suitable fit for the given program and that their application may be “screened” out.

Conversely, if a student’s RUC® Score corresponds to a percent invite probability greater than 90%, this suggests that the applicant is over qualified for the given program.  As a result, the school may assume the applicant sees them as a “safety” program and that the applicant won’t attend if offered an interview.  RUC® scores should only be used as a guide to help prospective students select programs and are not a guarantee of acceptance to any program.  However, APE Advisor Prep offers a full money-back-guarantee* for select RUC® scores.

How reliable are RUC™ Scores?

Extremely.  If you receive a RUC Score that identifies your interview invite probability at 90% or greater and you do not subsequently receive an interview invite at the same program during the same application cycle, simply provide APE validation of your rejection and RUC score credentials within 5 days and we will refund your RUC Score purchase in full.

Do I need to purchase a RUC™ Score Access Code if I am an APE Insider, Executive or Director Student?

Yes.  However, we will fully reimburse your purchase for any charges related to your RUC Score.

How should I use my RUC™ Score?

The RUC Score is used to determine an applicant’s percent interview invite probability at a specific program.  It does not predict your probability of gaining acceptance to the specified program.

Are RUC™ Scores transferable between programs?

No.  RUC Scores are specific to the discipline and program.

When will I receive my RUC™ Score?

Immediately after completing your RUC Score Assessment for your specified program.

How long does it take to complete a RUC™ Score Assessment?

Depending on the specific program, 10-15 minutes.

How long is my RUC Access Code Valid?

Each RUC Access Code is valid for 12 months from the date issued.

How do I interpret my RUC™ Score?

After completing your online assessment and receiving your RUC Score, please refer to your specific program’s RUC score guide for details on how to interpret your RUC Score.

Generally speaking, if your RUC score corresponds to a percent invite probability far below 50%, this ultimately suggests that your qualifications may not be a suitable fit for the given program and that your application may be “screened” out.

Conversely, if your RUC Score corresponds to a percent invite probability greater than 90%, this suggests that you may be over qualified for the given program.  As a result, the school may assume you see them as a “safety” program and be concerned that you will reject their interview invitation.

More details on how to access your score guide can be found within your order details or by contacting us at [email protected]

What is an ideal RUC™ Score?

RUC™ Scores will vary depending on the specific program.  An ideal RUC Score corresponds to a converted 70-80% interview invite probability at the desired program.
